The Bhagalpur Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the premier professional body dedicated to the development and regulation of the accountancy profession in the “Silk City” Bhagalpur of Bihar. Operating under the Central India Regional Council (CIRC), the branch serves as a vital local hub for Chartered Accountants and aspiring CA students in the region.
History and Establishment

Official Notification: Recognizing the growing professional landscape, the Council of ICAI officially notified the formation of the Bhagalpur Branch on May 19, 2022, under Regulation 159(1) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.
Formal Inauguration: The branch was formally inaugurated on May 6, 2023, by CA Aniket S. Talati (then President, ICAI) and CA Ranjeet K. Agarwal (then Vice President, ICAI), in the presence of distinguished guests including former Union Minister Shri Syed Shahnawaz Hussain.
Membership Strength and Jurisdiction
As of 2026, the branch boasts a strong community of more than 200 members, who provide mentorship and guidance to their fraternity.
